Name of Race: Fin'oh'ka (Beings That Speak)
Home Planet: Mil'oq'te
Part of//Allied with Fathom: Yes
Description of Planet: thefathom.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=planet&action=display&thread=24
The technology on Mil'oq'te is highly advanced. Due to its being developed underwater all tech can survive immense pressure. All dwellings are conical in design and most private homes do not even bother with removing the water from them. Some local businesses do, but most do not. Only buildings that have anything to do with off-planet species are required to have the water extracted since most off-planet species cannot breath underwater like the Fin'oh'ka can. The water and atmosphere of Mil'oq'te are pristine.
Description of Race: The Fin'oh'ka are semi-transparent, water/air-breathing, prehensile-tentacled humanoids. They tend to range in color from light blue to dark green with the rarity of a pink or light red in the mix. They have very fragile bodies and thusly tend to wear exosuits to protect themselves when in nearly any situation besides home life. Without the suits, their bodies are semi-transparent and their internal organs are visible as well as minimal. They have gill/lung systems that allow for the breathing of both water and air, a stomach, and that appears to be all. The suits were developed in a time before the species can remember and they are still improving on its design. High end models can support a Fin'oh'ka both in atmosphere and out of atmosphere acting as a space suit. Most models simply provide strength and friction to move heavy objects that the species normally would not be able to as well as the aforementioned basic protection. They believe that the more tentacles a Fin'oh'ka possesses shows how successful they will be in their life. Tentacles on the body can be found anywhere, but most tend to reside around where a human's chin would be, giving the appearance of a large beard. It is very difficult to tell the gender of a Fin'oh'ka at a glance since they all look extremely similar. Females tend to have less and shorter tentacles than males, but other than that, not much is known about their anatomy among those off-planet. They are not a religious species. They rely on science for everything due to the hardships on their planet including currents and predators. They pride intelligence over all things, the smarter a Fin'oh'ka is, the more they are respected, even if they have less tentacles than another Fin'oh'ka. They are omnivorous and will eat what is available to them. They will eat the plants and animals that grow on their planet, but usually only the ones they plant or raise themselves, the wild vegetation tends to claim more gatherers than is worth the risk.
History: The race is the way it is now due to living at least 8000 feet below sea level and their bodies needed to adapt to the pressure and hardships of being underwater. Initially, the planet of Mil'oq'te was very similar to Earth, the land was above sea level and the atmosphere was of a more similar composition. It was also closer to its sun until a massive comet impacted the side of the planet closest to the sun at the time and pushed the planet into a new orbit. The comet melted causing an enormous amount of new water to be added to the ecosystem and elements brought with the comet changed the atmospheric composition. The leftovers from the comet's impact formed the rings and the moon Mil'oq'te'chi. It is said that at this time, the ancestors of the Fin'oh'ka developed the suits to protect themselves on the rapidly changing planet. In the millenia since then, they have evolved into the beings they are now.
